Help! SOMEBODY! Help...Anybody...

Landon got The Lion King for Christmas.  The first few times he watched it, he wasn't all that interested.  Then he was really into it.  It took a few times of watching it to realize that Mufasa dies.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, Landon loves to act scenes out of the movie as he watches them.  It was pretty funny to see him imitate Simba crying during the intense death scene.  A few days after that, Landon was cuddling in bed with us one morning.  (Our morning ritual is for Landon to come jump in bed with us and cuddle until we decide we are hungry)  On this particular morning, Daddy wasn't quite ready to get up yet.  So Landon started quoting the beginning of the movie where Simba wakes his Dad up: "Dad! Dad, dad, dad, dad, dad! wake up!, Dad, dad, dad... (etc.)
While I thought this was pretty funny, Daddy didn't seem to be responding.  I was about to suggest we go downstairs when Landon says: "Help!  Somebody!  Anybody!  Help!"  I immediately knew that he was quoting from Mufasa's death scene and couldn't stop laughing.
In the last few weeks, Landon says this quite a bit because it always gets a smile or laugh out of me.
Well... today he Yelled it while we were in the store.  I laughed but then realized how much Landon doesn't really look all that much like me and thought, 'Oh Gosh!  Someone might think he is really calling for help.'
So, we had to have a chat.  What he understood of that chat, I am not sure, but time will only tell.

Dreams

Last night I had a dream that we were given a baby.  It was a little girl with dark skin and dark hair.  It was pretty real.  So real in fact, that in the dream, I was racking my brain trying to remember which bins in the attic had the baby items that we would need.  I spent a lot of the time in the dream holding the child and talking to the mother.
It was so weird because I haven't really thought much about the adoption stuff lately except for how we are going to do it financially.  I keep feeling so frustrated when I try to think about how to do this and then when I look over that part, and actually work on other aspects of the adoption process, I feel an overwhelming emotion and not once have I been able to keep the tears from flowing.
I have stopped to ponder that I am just crazy or stubborn and maybe Landon will be our only child.  So I took a few days to ponder and search if that was true.  I strongly feel that Landon is not to be our only child in this life.
I have desperate hopes that maybe it just wasn't the right time yet and that is why none of the fertility procedures took and that we will get pregnant on our own when the time is right.  But I know in my aching heart that this too is not realistic.
I have no idea how it will come to be, but I know that somehow, and someday, our family will continue to grow.  I look forward to the day that all my children are here with us.  I know I have much to work on with Landon so that I can be a better and more patient mother.  I don't think I have to work on the love part, I am not completely sure that there are many mothers out there that love their children as much as I love him.
In the dream, once this little girl was placed in my arms, I felt such a strong love and it came instantaneously.  As soon as she was there, just like when Landon was placed in my arms, it was as if they had always been a part of my being.
Anyways.  That was a powerful dream and I thought that it should be written down.  I am glad that I have written out the other feelings and impressions that I have had through this journey, because the discouragement and distractions are so strong sometimes, that I forget how powerful these thoughts and feelings felt as well.

Oink Oink

I had to post this today (the actual day it happened, I know, super rare of me).  Today at lunch, Landon decided that he wanted to eat shredded cheese (for some reason, shredded cheese tastes better???), ham and apple.  Then he proceeded to scoop the cheese off his plate, onto the table and slurp it up with his mouth.  I just sat back and watched him until he looks up at me and says, "oink, oink".
I asked James if they had been watching the Christmas Story (you know, the mashed potato scene?  If you don't know, you really need to watch that movie).  James said no.  Interesting...

The small, but funny things

I know, I am still BEHIND!  You would think that we lead this amazingly busy life or something.
A few weeks ago, I was woken up by Landon who put a jug of milk on my head.  He even brought the strawberry mix up to go with it.  James and I laughed about that for a long time.  Of course, we had to take it all back downstairs, because he needed a cup to drink it in.
We have taken a trip out to see the Christmas lights every week and only once did Landon stay awake.  The other few times, he was asleep within minutes.  James and I enjoyed ourselves though.
Landon is quite the little actor.  He loves to act out movies as he watches them.  He talks and mimics all the motions the characters are making.  The other day, he was watching a Thomas the train Christmas Special.  They have a bunch of little episodes broken up by the Conductor getting his home ready for his Christmas party. At one point, Carolers come to sing to him and they have song books with them.  Landon ran over to his little bookcase and grabbed a book for his prop.  Hmm... I am interested to see how this develops.
Landon still gives me kisses when he gets treats or snacks from the pantry.  I hope that never goes away.
James is still loving his job.  We are all pretty used to the 12 hour days now.  Even so, the days off seem to go by so quickly.
I myself did four craft shows this fall.  I am so glad that they are over.  Landon spent some quality time with his Marker Grandparents for two of those shows.  We are so lucky to have them so close to us.  Every time Landon leaves their house, he likes to take a toy with him.
Landon started talking really well, and then he went back to not talking so much.  We are still trying to get him to talk in sentences.  Some words he only says one syllable.  For example, his blanket he calls "blank".  Usually it is the second syllable, or second half of the word that he says, like for strawberry (his strawberry milk) he says "berry".
He is extremely observant.  One day we were running errands and we happened to drive past one of the libraries that we have been to (like 2 or 3 times).  He immediately started crying and pointing back the way we came saying "brary".  I couldn't believe it, not only had we only been there a few times (several months before), but we never really drive on that particular road, so I was surprised that he even paid any attention.
Landon is the same height as my hip right now.  He is a solid kid.  You would never guess it by looking at him though.  So, my earlier prediction that he will be taller than me when he is ten or twelve has gone to seven to 10 years old.  He just doesn't stop growing.  He is now in size 3, 4 and 5's.  He still wears some size 3 pants, but his torso is so long, he has to be in 4 and 5 shirts (which is starting to look interesting because he is so slim).
On the adoption front, we are kind of trying to get our finances in order.  The fertility treatments affected us more than we expected (and I am not talking about the hot flashes that I am still experiencing).  It is going to take some time to get where we need to be.  I thought about doing some kind of fundraiser, and expected to have a lot of support and was very wrong.  So, moving on, we are just waiting.
I have to say, it is much easier to wait for a child to come to your family when there is already a child to keep you distracted from all the hoop jumping.  We aren't really trying anymore, but every month, I still have that hope that I am pregnant.  Of course, then I remember what being pregnant feels like and think I must be crazy.

Fun with the Kelley's

I forgot to do this one before our reunion.  On our way to Texas, we stopped over in Georgia and stayed with our friends for a couple nights.  We always have fun with them and Zoe is Landon's age, so they have fun together too!

Drinking from their sippy cups and...
watching the laundry go round and round.  Good times.
Root Beer floats. Um... yes please!

Awww.  What great Fathers to share their root beer floats.

Goodbye!

When we packed up the kitchen stuff we needed to bring with us, we forgot the wooden dowels to roll out the tortillas.  So the men got creative and we sterilized the attachments of the shop vac and used them.
It isn't vacation without the lap top.
Uncle Javier became an instant favorite with Landon.
 Look at that spread!
Grilled chicken... Are you drooling yet?
Blowing up the kids pool, soon to be fish tank...
Yes, Landon had a nipple fetish for a while.  Every time his shirt was off, he was checking them out.
"I am the fire chief and you are a construction worker"
We had to take this picture of Dad napping.
The outdoor shower... Just add soap!
Looking for the snake.  Death wish?  I think so...
 The boys.
See!  The pool really did get used by the kids... for a bit.  They decided the hot tub was cooler.
We had to bring the Wii.

We had a game of bocce going, crochet and ladder ball.

And basketball!  So much fun!
