Quilts by Kista stuff

These photos are of a secret project I have been working on since the summer. My good friend Ryan wanted to surprise his wife Amanda with a quilt for their anniversary. He wanted it to be big, so I decided on a Queen size. And he wanted it to be about their relationship, so we decided to embroidery quotes and dates important to their relationship on it. Her favorite flowers are daisies, tulips and sunflowers, so I also made some of those. I made each flower so that as it gets washed, the petals will curl. This is by far the largest project I have taken on so far. Ryan picked out all of the fabric and at first, I didn't know how it would look, but it looks amazing together! They went on a cruise for their anniversary and his plan was to have the crew put it on the bed before they got to their room. I haven't heard yet as to whether or not that happened, they get back soon. She e-mailed me to tell me that she loves it. So glad the secret is over! Finished product

Landon got his cousin Kara for Christmas this year, so we picked out a jacket and embroidered a butterfly and her name on it.
This was Landon at the last craft show this year. The little boy next to us and lady across from us were very entertained by him that day. The lady even gave him a toy duck she liked him so much.
All in all, I am glad to say that my Quilts by Kista projects for 2009 are over. We'll see how 2010 goes. I have some new ideas, but time in the sewing room is tough with a baby.

Standing alone

Whoa! This thing is moving!
I can handle this.

My sister in law had this toy and her kids were done with it so she gave it to us. I knew that Landon was ready to be standing, but it seemed to have become a game that end with jumping to us and we never knew how long he could stand for. So we borrowed this toy and then he just got it.

Special alone time with Grandma Marker

Grandma Marker being the busiest grandma in the world, Landon doesn't get much alone time with her. This particular day it was just the two of them and I decided to take some pictures. In the last one they are doing patty cake.

Uncle George's visit

Our good friend George came to visit us on a business trip and we had so much fun spending time with him. He was surprised to see how big Landon has gotten. George just so happens to be married to Auntie Candy and she was stuck in Utah being jealous. It is okay though, come this summer, she will be out here herself. George got to see Landon during a fussy teething time and Candy will see him hopefully at a more fun time. (Even though we thought Landon was pretty fussy, George said he wasn't)

Practicing to stand

This is Landon's balancing face.
Falling face...
" Whew! That was close" face.

Landon has loved to stand and has pulled up since he was really young, but now, there is a little more interest behind the balancing. I wonder how much longer until he is walking?

Jacob's Birthday

Our friend Jacob (who seems like more of a nephew) invited us to his birthday party. Of all the themes that he could want, he wanted Mario Galaxy (a Wii game). He had a Mario Cake last year, but this year he wanted a very specific Mario GALAXY cake with Mario's hand in the air going Woo-hoo! My girlfriend, Heather (Jacob's Mommy), is very talented in cake decorating and was able with the help of her artistic husband Joe to do exactly what Jacob wanted.
(Side note: Heather did my super awesome baby shower cake) Jacob is so excited about his Mario Galaxy birthday cake.
Heather is amazingly talented and decorated Jacob's cake to his exact specifications.
(Joe helped with the art)

Awesome border!

Hmmm... this birthday thing is quite interesting...

Landon and Issac playing together.

After all the cake and presents were open, we hung out and Landon got to play with some toddler toys. He is standing up here in this last picture. Landon and Issac played very well together except for the strong desire to steal each others Binky's.

Happy New Year

I haven't been able to blog for a month. So much has happened and I am worried that I might forget something important. Please be patient with me as I try to get all of this stuff on here. I am also trying to keep it in order, but I am not sure if all of this will be exactly accurate. Like I said, so much has happened this last month and I have spent hours looking through over 300 photos and videos to share with you. I am still not quite done, but if I don't start putting stuff on here, I might explode!
